Chez Coronado is pleased to present mi hjo no era vago, a show of works by tino. The show is on view through december 14, 2025 by appointment.
The turn of the millennium is marked by the rise of the internet as it became widely accessible to the general public across the world. This accessibility opened lines of communication outside of the local, allowing for information to be quickly spread between strangers at a fast pace. This speed only quickened as social media was developed; forwarded email chains and viral Youtube videos paved the way for the modern-day meme and short form media to make its way into the hands of anyone who possessed a device. This web of data is where TINO begins his works.
Drawing from the visual language of highly circulated images and videos across platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, TINO layers known images one on top of another until they all shed their original meaning and begin to create something completely new yet known all the same. The resulting works are exaggeratedly chaotic, graphic canvases that bombard the viewer with information, yet somehow feel like a reprieve – here you can sit with these pieces, digest them before moving onto the next. There is no reel waiting in the wings, no new post, no live tweet. The works pause a moment in time that was never created to be paused.
