Chez Coronado is pleased to present Eric Nelson’s “Dissolve”, an exhibition of photographs. The show is on view through August 24, 2024 by appointment.
Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Eric Nelson has spent his entire life coming to understand Los Angeles and the people that live in it. With an unadulterated view of what it means to be veritable in this city, he turns his lens toward working-class individuals, the punk and metal scenes, and anyone who, in his eyes, embodies resilience and truth. Often, Nelson photographs those that the average pedestrian would overlook or purposely turn away from. For him, this is where the image begins, and it is not completed until he has taken a photograph that is so true to his subject’s core that it virtually glows with their character. He works to create images that transcend the ordinary, inviting others to see the world unclouded by conformity. Punk’s unapologetic ethos and the streets’ relentless pulse are the undertones that run throughout his work, giving it a feeling of youth and rebellion that is only found in those who are authentic to themselves.
